During Prof. Ashley’s and Mr. Sidharth Malhotra's visit to Sri Lanka, Prof. Ashley delivered a guest lecture on Host-Targeted Therapeutics And Biomarkers For Dengue on 24th April 2024 at the Galle Medical Association Auditorium and Mr. Sidharth Malhotra worked closely with the staff members to facilitate the testing required for the study. He dedicated his time in imparting valuable expertise in ELISA techniques, ensuring the team was equipped with the necessary skills to execute the tasks well.



In a dynamic and data-driven world, understanding the fundamentals of statistics is essential for making informed decisions. Dr. Bhagya Senadheera, the statistician for the Duke-Ruhuna collaboration, recently initiated a Basic Statistics course on how to use R statistical software in analyzing biological data. The first session of the course was held on the 1st of March 2024 at the Duke-Ruhuna office for the members of the Duke-Ruhuna office staff. 



The Global Health undergraduate student program was proposed between Duke University, the University of Amsterdam, and the University of Ruhuna in August 2017. The discussions were done to initiate a one-month program involving up to ten students from each University. An MOU was signed between the University of Amsterdam and the University of Ruhuna on 7th December 2017 to join AIGHD, University of Amsterdam to initiate the program in June 2018.

 



An online free research methodology course was offered by the Duke Hubert Yeargan Center for Global Health, the Duke Clinical Research Training Program, and Professor Emeritus of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics William E. Wilkinson in November 2016. Ajith Nagahawatte, Dr. Janithra De Silva, and Dr. Gaya Wijayaratne were given the opportunity to join the course for six months.

 



A workshop for planning the R01 Proposal for Sri Lanka Healthy Minds Study was held on July 2012 in Colombo.

 



Melissa Watt taught a workshop on Qualitative Methods to 30 junior faculty and physician-researchers at the University of Ruhuna on August 2011.
