A Randomized Controlled Trial of a Novel, Evidence-Based Algorithm for Managing Lower Respiratory Tract Infection in a Resource-Limited Setting
We got awarded a new grant – “A randomized controlled trial of a novel, evidence-based algorithm for managing lower respiratory tract infection in a resource-limited setting” (R01-Clinical trial grant) through the National Institutes of Health, USA.
Dr. Gayani Tillekeratne proposes that with this study, we will be able to develop and implement an evidence-based algorithm for improving the diagnosis and treatment of lower respiratory tract infections at Teaching Hospital Karapitiya (THK). The implementation of the algorithm will be conducted as a clinical trial at THK.
Prof. Gaya Bandara Wijayaratne is the local principal investigator in this study. The co-investigators for the study are Prof. C. K. Bodinayake, Dr. Gayani Tillekeratne, Prof. Ajith Nagahawatte, Dr. Nayani Weerasinghe, Prof. Chris Wood, Dr. Susanna Naggie, Dr. Eric Laber, Dr. Evan Myers, Dr. Melissa Watt.
