Prof. Gayani Tillekeratne - Associate professor of Medicine, Division of infectious diseases, Duke University School of Medicine who is also an adjunct professor of Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna, delivered the Sir Marcus Fernando Oration on Reducing antibiotic prescription for viral acute respiratory infection in Sri Lanka” which is a very timely topic and the audience found it quite interesting.

Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) held the Foundation Sessions 2023 Jaffna in Collaboration with Jaffna Medical Association (JMA) - The Inauguration of the Foundation Sessions of Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) was held at the Hoover Auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna on 24th and 25th November 2023.

The Chief Guest was Prof. Samath D. Dharmaratne, Immediate Past President of SLMA. The Guest of Honour was Dr. Palitha Abeykoon Past-President SLMA. Dr. Chirshanthi Rajasooriyar, the President of Jaffna Medical Association and the Council members were present at the Inauguration.

On 25th the proceedeings were held at the auditorium of the medical student’s hostel faculty.

Professor C. K. Bodinayake (the head) and Mr. Buddhika Dilshan from the Duke-Ruhuna Collaborative Research Centre also participated the sessions.
